A Day in London: Source Fashion, Retail Safari & Selfridges
Last week in London was an exciting one as the founder of Isabelle Meira; from speaking at Source Fashion to connecting with new ethical suppliers, wandering through a retail safari in Soho, and dining in Selfridges' private dining room.
Speaking at Source Fashion: Discussing MOQ Strategies and Supply Chain Relationships
I joined Simon Platts and Lindsay McKerchar on stage at Source Fashion, one of the UK’s leading events for responsible sourcing and sustainable manufacturing. Our panel focused on navigating low MOQs (Minimum Order Quantities) where I shared my experiences as a small business owner.
We explored real-world strategies for ethical fashion production, how AI is reshaping forecasting and demand, and why building strong supplier relationships is essential. I shared my experiences over the years, from creating small-batch swimwear in London to artisan-led production in Bali, I’ve learned that getting around high MOQs is essential.
And truthfully, that’s where Isabelle Meira was born, from the need to create capsule collections that are led by real demand, not overproduction. Our whole model is built on avoiding excess and producing intentionally.
When you're a small or growing fashion brand, negotiating MOQs can often make or break your business. Whether working with local makers or overseas manufacturers, the ability to negotiate flexible MOQs while maintaining quality and ethics is essential.
Retail Safari Around Soho: Feeling Inspired
After the panel and new supplier meetings, I joined a retail safari in Soho, London. We walked around exciting retail spaces, from concept stores to heritage retailers, seeing how brands express themselves through visual storytelling and in-store experiences. As we're not based in London, it was inspiring to see and a space that I'd love for Isabelle Meira to grow into in the future.
Networking Dinner at Selfridges: Fashion Conversations Over Dinner
Later that evening, I joined a private networking dinner at Selfridges, which brought together speakers from the day who were founders, buyers, creatives, and industry leaders across the ethical fashion space. We had amazing conversations about supply chain transparency, branding, AI and tariffs (no surprise there!).
It was amazing to be a part of this event and meet so many incredible people working hard to shift the industry to be more sustainable. Now back in the office with lots of ideas, getting in touch with new suppliers and build Isabelle Meira even more.
